SEOUL, Korea, Nov 08, 2022— FedEx Express (FedEx), asubsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) and one of the world’slargest express transportation companies, is bolstering support forcross-border trade and e-commerce growth in Korea with the launchof its new FedEx Incheon Gateway located at Incheon InternationalAirport, South Korea. The new facility offers enhanced capabilitiesthat will benefit local businesses looking to access internationalmarkets and support the growing demand for e-commerce andcold-chain shipments.Connectingmore businesses to global markets
The newIncheon Gateway spans 23,395 square meters, more than double thesize of the previous facility, and is equipped with 78 conveyorbelts and an advanced automated sortation system that can sort upto 12,000 packages per hour, doubling the previous sortingcapacity. It also includes a 15,207-square-meter warehouse that cansafely store up to 40,000 packages. With 31 weekly flights, the newfacility connects Korea to over 220 countries and territoriesthrough the FedEx global network. The new Gateway supportsimporters and exporters including small- and medium-enterprises(SMEs) and heavy-weight shippers with greater and more reliableaccess to and from international markets.

Expanded temperature-controlled facilities for growing cold-chainshipmentsTo furtherfacilitate the reliable and safe transportation of cold-chainshipments, including samples for clinical trials and healthcareproducts such as vaccines as well as perishable ortemperature-sensitive items, the new gateway’s cold storage area isnow five times larger. The enhanced cold-chain capabilities atIncheon enable FedEx to facilitate transportation of a wider rangeof temperature-sensitive shipments within Korea, or to destinationswithin the FedEx global network. It contains three separatechambers compliant with European Guidelines (Good DistributionPractice) for temperature-controlled storage including freezer,cool, and ambient room. Withdecades of experience serving the healthcare industry, FedEx hasbeen further boosting its cold-chain capabilities in prioritylocations since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Building sustainable facilities for carbon neutraloperations
Supporting the company’s goal of global carbon neutral operationsby 2040, the new Gateway has adopted many features withsustainability in mind. As a G-SEED (Green Standard for Energy andEnvironmental Design)-certified building, the facility willgenerate renewable energy through 2,400 solar panels on itsrooftop, supplying approximately 19% of the facility’s energy needsper month. A green roof will reduce heat flux and energyconsumption for cooling or heating. The building features **** LEDlighting to save more than 22,000kW per year versus traditionallighting and a skylight installation (more than 1,000 squaremeters) to increase of the amount of natural light.
